The Cliff Path Action Group
is a community-driven initiative that has transformed a simple dream into a reality;
to complete the Hermanus cliff path and create an uninterrupted, 12km world-class coastal path for all to enjoy.
The spirit of community!
The iconic Hermanus Cliff Path hugs the coast from the New Harbour in the West to Grotto Beach in the East for 12km; providing walkers with uninterrupted views of Walker Bay surrounded by pristine indigenous flora. There was a 800m section in the middle of this route where the path did not exist; walkers were forced to walk on the busy, narrow Main Rd or to cut-short their walk and turn back. It ruined one's experience. In 2016 the Cliff Path Action Group formed to change this; their plan was to connect, and complete, the path.
After years of dedication, and with the support of the local community, CPAG obtained Environmental Authorisation to build this final section of the path below the high-water mark.
This project; initiated, driven and funded by the community, is set to enhance Hermanus' biggest tourist asset and promote eco-tourism and coastal public access.
Join us in connecting the stunning coastal beauty of Hermanus through the power of community spirit.

Our aim is to promote awareness and ensure the sustainable development of the coastal area of the Overberg region, from New Harbour to Grotto Beach, for the benefit and protection of the fauna, flora and marine biology of the area, and to allow free access by all citizens.
Our Mission
We are committed to preserving the natural beauty of our coastal area by creating a safe and accessible path for the community to enjoy.

Our Vision
Our vision is to establish a sustainable and well-maintained coastal path that connects people with the scenic beauty of our coastline.
